APPLICATIONS
PCMM Inspection
Measuring the physical dimensions of fabrications for construction, automotive manufacturing, electronics, etc., is crucial for maintaining quality standards for form and function. Traditionally, the QA of parts is done manually: technicians use handheld tools to inspect surface dimensions and ensure they accurately mirror the design. And while these technicians are experts in their field, the risk of error and tolerance levels remain high.
It became necessary to develop more reliable metrology methods with lower tolerances and less dependency on human judgment, effectively reducing the pressure and liability on technicians. The PCMM fulfilled all of these needs.
LASER TRACKER Inspection
The tracker is able to measure points in all 360 degrees of space around it horizontally, and 138 degrees vertically. This coordinate plane extends 80m from the tracker in all directions, and for API’s Radian Laser Tracker there is no minimum measuring distance. The tracker is able to hit points in this plane within a handful of microns, depending on the distance.
Everything is better with lasers!
Take large scale metrology, for example. “Laser trackers first came to market in the early ‘90s and for the first ten years there wasn’t a whole lot of development on the technology side,” explained Joel Martin, product manager for laser trackers at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. “It was more trying to find a home for the technology.”

Many things can be reverse-engineered, including software, physical machines, military technology and even biological functions related to how genes work.
The purpose of reverse-engineering is to find out how an object or system works. There are a variety of reasons to do this. Reverse-engineering can be used to learn how something works and to recreate the object or to create a similar object with added enhancements.
